What is Diversion?
Most average consumers have either witnessed it or inadvertently participated in diversion. When products are purchased from retailers whom the manufacturer does not authorize to sell the products, it is called “diversion”. Ozon manufactures professional salon tools and products. If you find a supposed Ozon product that is not sold in an authorized location, it is considered to be diverted product.
4 Reasons Diversion is Bad
1. SAFETY
If you purchase Ozon products at an unauthorized retailer, you run the risk of purchasing a counterfeit hair tool, which is not only not cool, but it could be dangerous. Counterfeiters of hair tools are not concerned with safety standards and you may run the risk of destroying your hair, electrocution, or being severely burned.
2. QUALITY
Ozon Hair Systems qualifies all of our retailers before they are granted authorized retailer status. If you purchase from a diverter, not only will the quality of your product be in question, but so will your quality of service. If you have trouble with any of our authorized retailers, please let us know, and we will take action possibly including revocation of their authorized retailer status.
Most diverters are not professional retailers, and do not conform to our standards, nor sign our anti-diversion contract. Diverted wet line products may be diluted, old, or expired. Ozon Hair Systems cannot guarantee the authenticity, quality, or safety of diverted products. Because of this, any products purchased from diverters are not covered by warranty or satisfaction guarantee by Ozon Hair Systems.
3. EDUCATION
When you buy from a diverter, they have no obligation to give you adequate education on the proper and safe use and maintenance of our tools. All of our retailers are qualified to use and educate on the use of our products. Your non-diverting, professional hairdresser will instruct you on the use of our products.
4. PATRONAGE
Part of Ozon’s philosophy is that we have a strong commitment to the success of our salons. When you buy an Ozon product from your local authorized salon, you are supporting not only your hairdresser, but also your community. Ozon does not distribute through huge, multinational distributors. We believe in supporting the individual salon owner and the individual hairdressers, not huge distributors or huge chain salons. When you buy from a diverter, you are supporting unscrupulous profiteers who have no interest in giving you the service, education, and support you expect with Ozon products.
Who Diverts Products?
Products are diverted by unauthorized distributors and salons or their employees, web retailers or auction sites like eBay, plus other unscrupulous individuals who see profit in piracy.
What Are We Doing to Stop Diversion?
REQUIRING AN ANTI-DIVERSION CONTRACT: All authorized salons are required to sign our anti-diversion agreement. By doing this, they agree to adhere to our standards or risk losing their authorized retailer status. Some of the standards they must meet include but are not limited to: They must not sell online, in bulk, or to other diverters; they must not price gouge or severely discount prices that they compete unfairly with our other authorized retailers.
OFFERING A REWARD FOR REPORTING DIVERTERS: We want you, the community, to be on the lookout for diverters. If you have evidence of a diverter on the web, brick and mortar retailer, or distributor, let us know, and if your evidence leads to the successful foiling of a diversion operation, we will reward you $500 worth of Ozon products.
